MUSCO CENTER FOR THE ARTS

Orange, California

The Julianne Argyros Orchestra Hall is a 1050 seat proscenium theatre that transforms into a concert hall with a one-of-a-kind fully 120,000 pound flying orchestra shell.

Once the shell is in the stored, the orchestra hall becomes a lyric theatre, capable of accommodating opera, musical theatre, and amplified music events. The full fly tower has motorized rigging and a flexible fore stage with orchestra pit lifts, and an orchestra pit capable of housing a Wagner sized orchestra.

Mark Swed of the LA Times noted “The City of Orange now houses an ideal opera house, potentially the best in the West, and maybe even something more..."

TheatreDNA provided theatre planning, theatre design, and performance equipment design and specification, subcontracted to Theatre Projects.
