OUTSIDE IN STUDIO

Los Angeles, CA

Outside In Theatre is an evolving force in equitable and transformative storytelling. Through multi-platform theatrical experiences, they seek to create art that speaks to intersectional communities and amplify content created by and for underrepresented voices. They nurture brave spaces for all, including Black, Indigenous, AAPI, Latinx, Global Majority Peoples and White allies, to take their work to the next level.

Designed by LOC, an award winning, process-driven, and socially responsive architecture practice committed to the creation of transformative experiences through the built environment, the renovation of the new Outside In theatre space will include a flexible theatre with seating for up to 200 patrons. The reconfigurable performance space will utilize demountable platforms with loose seats that can accommodate end stage, thrust, and in-the-round presentation formats. Back of house support spaces include dressing rooms, restrooms, artist lounge, rehearsal room, and a control booth. Public amenities include lobbies, a community commons space with a bar, and a multi-purpose event room.

TheatreDNA provided full theatre planning, theatre design, and performance equipment design and specification services.
