DENVER CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS

SINGLETON THEATRE

Denver, Colorado

Originally built as an art film house, The Singleton Theatre has been used as a theatre since 1988. Renovated in 2023, the space hosts DCPA Theatre Company’s world premiere plays, comedies, and dramas. Named after long-time DCPA Trustee William Dean Singleton, this intimate 200-seat proscenium theatre keeps the audience close enough to see every expression and detail.

The renovations for the theatre focused mostly on creating more space and proper access for patrons, performers, and production staff. An access entry for stage left was created as well as expanded backstage corridors, new dressing rooms, and upgraded support rooms. In the auditorium, the stage was rebuilt, old seats replaced with new ones, and acoustic paneling to tune the room better for intimate performances. ADA improvements were made with the addition of a backstage elevator lift, lobby elevators to replace the former stair-only-access, and the addition of more ADA seating in the theatre.

TheatreDNA provided full theatre planning, theatre design, and performance equipment design and specifications services.
